Session Description:
This will be a 90-minute, four-speaker panel featuring clinicians and public health authorities detailing many relevant aspects of the legalization of marijuana, especially in California, with some lessons and pointers for responding to major concerns.

Understand the history, science base, impetus and major developments concerning cannabis legalization in California

Describe the major positive and negative impacts of legalization, in terms of clinical, public health, and financial impacts

Understand some ongoing and planned optimal responses from public health and medical authorities to the expected and observed negative impacts of legalization at the state and local levels

Describe relative risk and benefits of cannabis use

Identify conditions in which cannabis use is contraindicated

Develop recommendations for ‘moderate use’ of cannabis
